Secretary Gates is a founding principal of the consulting firm Rice, Hadley, Gates, & Manuel, LLC. He served as United States Secretary of Defense in both the Bush and Obama administrations. He also served as President of Texas A&M University, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and Deputy National Security Advisor. He is Chancellor of the College of William and Mary and was President of the Boy Scouts of America. Secretary Gates is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, awarded to him by President Obama in 2011. He has served and continues to serve on numerous corporate boards.
